About this collection
Spring–Summer 1965 assembled roughly thirty trapeze dresses or jacket-and-skirt ensembles in substantial wool, predominantly white and cut above the knee. The salon presentation used jazz, while flat boots, trousers, knitted underlayers, metallic effects and clear topstitching developed clothing around movement and immediate geometric legibility.
Peter Knapp’s photographs appeared in Elle in March and Life published its international feature in May, separating the date of the couture presentation from the wider media breakthrough. “Space Age” is retained only as retrospective shorthand; no house programme has established it as the official title.
