Autumn/Winter 2016 foregrounded Van Noten’s restrained side through tailored coats, pantsuits, cricket sweaters, dressing gowns, pyjamas and narrow black velvet pieces. The wardrobe moved between formality and ease without relying on the dense print combinations most commonly associated with the house.

Its significance lies in making the cut visible as a primary house code. The collection shows how eccentricity can enter through proportion, fabric and styling even when the palette and surface remain controlled.
