Dreaming of Spring placed Chinese literary withdrawal and Western Renaissance imagery inside the same loose, unfinished silhouette. References to the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove and Botticelli’s Primavera appeared through generous robe-like proportions, sheer fabric, floral marks, ink-like colour and raw edges. The show also introduced the first official chapter of Feng Chen Wang’s long-term partnership with Under Armour, bringing performance materials into the collection without displacing its historical and painterly references.
