Overview
Feng Chen Wang is a fashion label founded in London by Fujian-born designer Fengchen Wang. FENGCHENWANG LTD was incorporated on 2 February 2015 while Wang was completing the Fashion Menswear MA at the Royal College of Art, and her graduate collection, Life and Love, became the label’s international runway introduction through VFiles in New York that September. The first standalone commercial presentation followed in February 2016, establishing a menswear business built around deconstruction, technical outerwear and an increasingly fluid approach to gender.
The label moved between New York and London during its early seasons, joining the MAN programme supported by Fashion East and Topman before returning to New York for collections including Made in China and My Half. In May 2019 the business expanded into a substantial Shanghai studio, bringing design development closer to Chinese production and craft networks. Spring/Summer 2020 made regional processes such as Fujian lanyinhuabu indigo resist-dyeing and bamboo work central to the runway, with later collections extending those material ideas into lacquerware references, Jingdezhen ceramics, heritage silks and botanical printing.
Feng Chen Wang entered the official Paris menswear calendar with Spring/Summer 2023 and continues to operate through a London–Shanghai studio network while presenting primarily in Paris. A complete womenswear line debuted in Shanghai on 26 March 2026, joining menswear and accessories as the brand’s principal current categories. Wang remains founder and creative director of the independent label, whose recent work also includes long-running product development with Converse and UGG and a long-term creative partnership with Under Armour announced in June 2026.
Philosophy
Feng Chen Wang uses deconstruction as a working method, exposing structure and allowing garments to change state. Pieces are cut apart, doubled, spliced, zipped and reassembled so that familiar forms can carry several states at once. The approach appeared in the anatomical volumes and exposed fastening systems of Life and Love, developed through the halved shirts and trousers of My Half, and became a recurring system of modular outerwear, convertible footwear and layered tailoring.
Material development is equally central. Wang’s collections draw directly on Chinese making traditions when a process can alter the structure or behaviour of the garment: lanyinhuabu indigo resist-dyeing is applied to contemporary outerwear and denim; Fujian bamboo becomes both woven surface and structural bag hardware; Jingdezhen ceramics inform crackled surfaces and sculptural forms; xiangyun sha and yuzi xie bring historic silk and resist-dye systems into modern tailoring. Fuzhou bodiless lacquerware appears through print, colour and textile construction, while the garments themselves do not use the traditional lacquer process.
Duality runs through the label’s silhouettes and product logic: hard structures meet fluid layers, industrial fabrics sit beside hand processes, and menswear codes are repeatedly opened to different bodies. Wang’s collaborative work applies the same logic to established products, from Converse’s split 2-in-1 sole and UGG’s modular footwear to Nike’s transformable sportswear. Across these systems, cultural memory, technical construction and practical adaptability remain legible in the finished object.

Feng Chen Wang presented Spring/Summer 2023 in Paris on 26 June 2022, which the brand identifies as its first Paris show and the start of its official Paris calendar participation. Feng Chen Wang began a multi-season relationship with UGG for Spring/Summer 2021, applying removable and convertible construction to sheepskin footwear. Later chapters expanded into 3-in-1 boots, apparel and revised Tasman silhouettes, carrying the label’s modular logic into a broader product system.

The label moved into an approximately 6,400-square-foot studio in Shanghai’s Huangpu District in May 2019. The new base expanded development capacity and placed the studio closer to Chinese manufacturing and regional craft networks while the UK company and London identity remained in place.
Feng Chen Wang incorporated Levi’s denim into the Spring/Summer 2019 development period, using splicing and reconstruction to alter familiar 501 forms. The relationship later expanded into a dedicated 2020 capsule built around industrial denim and upcycling.
Feng Chen Wang began developing deconstructed Converse footwear around the Spring/Summer 2019 season, cutting and rebuilding Chuck 70s into early 2-in-1 prototypes. The project became a commercial technical partnership in 2020 and continued through later silhouettes and craft-led iterations.
Feng Chen Wang joined the MAN menswear support programme for Spring/Summer 2017 and returned for Autumn/Winter 2017. Fashion East and Topman supplied runway infrastructure and placed the label within London’s emerging menswear system during a decisive stage of its early international development.
Feng Chen Wang was selected as a semi-finalist for the 2016 LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers only months after the VFiles launch. The recognition brought the young label into a Paris-based international network of buyers, editors and designers during its first commercial year.
Feng Chen Wang’s graduate work entered the international fashion calendar through the VFiles runway at Spring Studios in New York on 9 September 2015. The appearance converted an RCA graduate project into the public launch phase of the independent label and brought Wang into VFiles’ mentorship and retail ecosystem.
