Introduction
Feng Chen Wang is a Chinese fashion designer born in Fujian province in 1986. She studied at the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, where her early work already combined technical construction with sculptural form, and received an Arts of Fashion Foundation scholarship in 2010. She later moved to London for the Royal College of Art’s Fashion Menswear MA, graduating in 2015 with Life and Love, a collection shaped by her father’s illness and by anatomical ideas of repair, connection and recovery.
While completing the RCA programme, Wang incorporated FENGCHENWANG LTD in London on 2 February 2015. Life and Love became her international runway introduction through VFiles in New York that September, followed by the first standalone commercial presentation in February 2016. She was selected as an LVMH Prize semi-finalist in 2016, joined the MAN programme in London, and built a transatlantic runway practice before opening a major Shanghai studio in May 2019.
Wang remains founder and creative director of the eponymous label, which moved onto the Paris menswear calendar in 2022 and introduced its first complete womenswear line in Shanghai in March 2026. Her work has developed through sustained engagement with Chinese regional craft, deconstructed tailoring and modular product systems, alongside long-running collaborations with companies including Converse and UGG. In June 2026 she was named Under Armour’s Long Term Creative Partner, with the first chapter of that relationship appearing in Feng Chen Wang’s Spring/Summer 2027 show.
Design ethos
Wang treats construction as a way to make emotional and social relationships visible. Her early work used zips, slashes and anatomical volume to turn experiences of illness and recovery into garments; later collections translated ideas of connection into doubled shirts, fused trousers, cable systems and garments assembled from apparent halves. Deconstruction remains useful because it exposes how a piece is built and creates room for it to be worn, read or transformed in more than one way.
Her mature practice couples that structural language with sustained material development in China. Fujian lanyinhuabu brings natural indigo and starch-resist chemistry into urban outerwear; bamboo becomes woven panel, bag structure and hardware; Jingdezhen ceramics generate crackled surfaces and sculptural references; xiangyun sha, yuzi xie and botanical contact printing place historic or plant-based processes inside contemporary tailoring. Wang keeps direct craft production distinct from visual quotation, using each technique according to what the material can physically contribute.
Modularity carries the same thinking into commercial product. Converse’s split and layered 2-in-1 footwear, UGG’s removable boot systems and Nike’s transformable performance garments all extend Wang’s interest in garments that change state without losing their identity. Her silhouettes repeatedly balance dense tailoring with fluid fabric, utility with ornament and masculine codes with softer forms; the dedicated womenswear line formalised that spectrum without abandoning the construction methods developed through the menswear years.

Career history
2026
Feng Chen Wang entered a long-term creative partnership with Under Armour on 25 June 2026, with Wang named Long Term Creative Partner at the sportswear company. The first official chapter appeared in the Spring/Summer 2027 runway, and commercial product delivery was announced for later in 2026.
2026
Feng Chen Wang unveiled its first complete womenswear line at Shanghai Fashion Week on 26 March 2026. The line extended the brand’s deconstructed tailoring, experimental fabric and craft systems into a dedicated seasonal category while maintaining the gender-fluid approach visible in earlier collections.
2023
After earlier Nike customisation and project work, Feng Chen Wang launched a formal Nike apparel collection on 28 September 2023. The range translated the label’s modular construction into performance clothing, led by a transformable jacket designed for extensive reconfiguration.
2022
Feng Chen Wang presented Spring/Summer 2023 in Paris on 26 June 2022, which the brand identifies as its first Paris show and the start of its official Paris calendar participation. The shift established Paris as the label’s principal runway city without changing its London incorporation or Shanghai operating base.
2021
Feng Chen Wang began a multi-season relationship with UGG for Spring/Summer 2021, applying removable and convertible construction to sheepskin footwear. Later chapters expanded into 3-in-1 boots, apparel and revised Tasman silhouettes, carrying the label’s modular logic into a broader product system.
2020
Feng Chen Wang reached the finalist stage of the International Woolmark Prize around the Autumn/Winter 2020 collection period. The recognition reflected the label’s growing emphasis on material development, modular construction and responsible use of textile resources.
2019
The label moved into an approximately 6,400-square-foot studio in Shanghai’s Huangpu District in May 2019. The new base expanded development capacity and placed the studio closer to Chinese manufacturing and regional craft networks while the UK company and London identity remained in place.
2018
Feng Chen Wang incorporated Levi’s denim into the Spring/Summer 2019 development period, using splicing and reconstruction to alter familiar 501 forms. The relationship later expanded into a dedicated 2020 capsule built around industrial denim and upcycling.
2018
Feng Chen Wang began developing deconstructed Converse footwear around the Spring/Summer 2019 season, cutting and rebuilding Chuck 70s into early 2-in-1 prototypes. The project became a commercial technical partnership in 2020 and continued through later silhouettes and craft-led iterations.
2016
Feng Chen Wang joined the MAN menswear support programme for Spring/Summer 2017 and returned for Autumn/Winter 2017. Fashion East and Topman supplied runway infrastructure and placed the label within London’s emerging menswear system during a decisive stage of its early international development.
2016
Feng Chen Wang was selected as a semi-finalist for the 2016 LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers only months after the VFiles launch. The recognition brought the young label into a Paris-based international network of buyers, editors and designers during its first commercial year.
2015
Feng Chen Wang’s graduate work entered the international fashion calendar through the VFiles runway at Spring Studios in New York on 9 September 2015. The appearance converted an RCA graduate project into the public launch phase of the independent label and brought Wang into VFiles’ mentorship and retail ecosystem.
2015
Feng Chen Wang has served as the continuing creative director of her eponymous label since its 2015 launch period. Her authorship spans the early New York and London seasons, the Shanghai studio expansion, the move onto the Paris calendar and the 2026 introduction of a complete womenswear line.
2015
Fengchen Wang incorporated FENGCHENWANG LTD in London on 2 February 2015 while completing her Royal College of Art studies. The company provided the operating structure for the eponymous label before its first international runway appearance later that year.
