JUNYA WATANABE

Spring/Summer 2024 pushes Junya Watanabe’s womenswear towards objects made to be worn. Geometric forms organise the body through protrusion, repetition and engineered surface, making construction feel more important than conventional garment category. The collection’s force comes from the tension between sculptural autonomy and wearability: pieces look built, but they still need the body to activate their shape. It is a concentrated example of Watanabe’s garment-object language, where pattern intelligence becomes visible as volume, rhythm, spatial design, silhouette and bodily negotiation.
