Margiela: The Hermès Years brought the designer’s twelve Hermès collections into a museum framework, placing them beside his work for Maison Martin Margiela. The exhibition showed comfort, durability, modular construction and mature casting as a coherent experiment.

Its presentations at MoMu and MAD Paris changed the public reading of the 1997–2003 tenure. Vareuse tunics, double garments, reversible construction and inclusive casting could be seen as a sustained system rather than a conservative interval.
