About this collection

Luella Bartley and external collaborator Stuart Vevers developed a heavy leather bag for Bartley’s Autumn/Winter 2002 runway with Mulberry. Multiple straps, rolled handles, contrast stitching, heart charms and saddlery hardware joined the label’s thick leather construction to Bartley’s punk-inflected English styling.

Gisele Bündchen carried the bag on the New York runway, after which press and customers adopted her first name for the product. The collaboration preceded Vevers’s official Mulberry employment and gave the house a visible accessories turning point during an internal studio interval; the precise degree to which it reproduced a 1975 holdall remains unresolved.
