About this collection
Emma Hill’s Spring/Summer 2012 show turned the Claridge’s ballroom into a heightened British seaside environment with carousel animals, oversized sticks of rock, candyfloss and a Mulberry ice-cream van. Lemon, peppermint and washed coastal colour ran through floral dresses, striped knits, relaxed outerwear and the carried leather goods.
Clothing hardware was kept deliberately quiet so the Postman’s Locks and bag structures remained visible. The venue, food, props, slightly dishevelled styling and later Tim Walker campaign made the collection an unusually complete example of Hill’s method: product, runway theatre and image working as one system.
