N.HOOLYWOOD’s Spring/Summer 2002 debut, retrospectively identified as RECLAMATION / 再生, translated Daisuke Obana’s vintage-remake practice into a first runway collection staged in a Tokyo nightclub. The collection’s best-documented signature piece was a twisted denim construction developed by wrapping and re-cutting oversized vintage jeans, carrying the physical logic of his go-getter-era remakes into a new fashion label.

The debut established the central method that would persist through N.HOOLYWOOD: close study of an existing garment followed by alteration of its proportion, construction and use. The exact presentation day and club venue are not part of the public record used here, but the Spring/Summer 2002 season and the collection’s role as Obana’s first N.HOOLYWOOD runway are firmly established.
