About this collection
Autumn/Winter 2009–10 SKY SCRAPER was presented at Ebisu Garden Hall in Tokyo on 19 March 2009. Daisuke Obana used American skyscraper architecture as the collection’s source, translating the scale, verticality and geometric structure of buildings into outerwear, tailoring and sharply organised garment shapes.
The collection is a concise example of N.HOOLYWOOD’s research method at the end of its initial Tokyo period. Architectural reference was absorbed into pattern and silhouette instead of becoming costume or surface decoration, showing how Obana could move beyond vintage clothing itself while retaining an analytical approach to structure.
