N.HOOLYWOOD

HALF DOME, shown at the Park Avenue Armory on 11 February 2011, was N.HOOLYWOOD’s first New York runway. The collection extended Daisuke Obana’s American field research through Yosemite and Half Dome references, placing the label’s established interest in outdoor and utilitarian clothing inside a new international runway context.

The show converted the geographic experiment begun with the Spring/Summer 2011 New York presentation into a sustained runway strategy. N.HOOLYWOOD would remain New York-facing through the rest of the decade, using the city as the presentation frame for increasingly broad research into American culture, technical clothing and historical systems.
