About this collection
N.HOOLYWOOD presented Spring/Summer 2016 at Studio 450 in New York on 14 July 2015 during the inaugural New York Fashion Week: Men’s. The collection turned to typography and calligraphy, including references to Herb Lubalin and Japanese calligrapher Mikitype, using lettering as a structural and graphic system across otherwise controlled menswear.
The show placed N.HOOLYWOOD inside New York’s first standalone menswear week at a point when the label’s research was moving beyond historical Americana into more abstract visual and technical systems. It also confirms how firmly Obana’s New York presentation practice had become part of the city’s menswear calendar by the middle of the decade.
