Adrien Caillaudaud

Adrien Caillaudaud is a French designer born in 1985 and trained at Atelier Chardon Savard in Paris, where he met Alexis Martial. His early career centred on accessories: he worked on women’s shoes at Marc Jacobs, gained experience with jewellery at Paule Ka, and joined Givenchy for footwear and accessories. By 2013 he was head designer for women’s shoes at Givenchy and also undertook consultancy work for Tod’s and Jil Sander.

In March 2015 Carven appointed Caillaudaud and Martial joint artistic directors of the women’s collections. Their complementary backgrounds gave the house a split expertise across apparel, footwear and accessories, and their tenure continued through the Spring/Summer 2017 collection before ending by mutual agreement in October 2016.

Caillaudaud later continued working with Martial in independent design, including Amca Oval, whose objects and installations bring their shared visual language into furniture and spatial design. The move extends his long accessories practice into a wider field of product scale, material and use.

Caillaudaud approaches fashion through the object logic of shoes, bags and jewellery. Proportion, hardware, material junctions and the way an accessory changes the stance of a silhouette are central tools, giving his work a product-design precision that complements apparel-led creative direction.

At Carven this expertise was integrated directly into womenswear with Martial, allowing footwear and accessories to participate in the same high-waisted, compact and graphic silhouette as the clothes. His later design work broadens the same attention to shape and function into furniture and interiors, where sculptural form and practical use remain closely connected.
