Introduction
Alessandra Rich is an Italian fashion designer based between London and Milan. Without formal fashion training, she founded her namesake womenswear label in 2010 and established offices in both cities. The business initially became known for long evening dresses and gained early wholesale and red-carpet visibility after pieces were worn by actors including Meryl Streep and Diane Kruger.
Rich later expanded the label into seasonal ready-to-wear, knitwear, tailoring, jewellery and accessories, with production centred in Italy and presentations in Paris and London. In 2026, the label presented its Autumn/Winter collection in London and released Spring/Summer and High Summer collections. Her work has retained a focus on occasion dressing while broadening into a complete wardrobe.
Design ethos
Rich repeatedly builds collections around polished feminine codes that are made slightly awkward, excessive or knowingly theatrical. Lace dresses, high collars, bows, crystal buttons, puffed sleeves and sharply marked waists recur alongside short hemlines, sheer panels and assertive tailoring. References to mid-century and 1980s dressing are frequent, with familiar signs of propriety enlarged, shortened or paired with exposed elements.
Rich designs for an independent, self-confident, clever and ironic woman, treating fashion as pleasure rather than solemnity. That balance appears across repeated collections: formal jackets with hot pants, demure florals with transparency, or precise evening dresses interrupted by a slit or exaggerated shoulder. Italian manufacture and close attention to fabric and construction provide the control behind the humour. Decorum and display remain in productive tension throughout the work.
