Introduction
Andrew Heather is a designer whose couture experience includes Maison Margiela Artisanal, Givenchy and Celine. Chanel recruited him as a senior designer in the haute couture studio in June 2025, one of the first major studio appointments under Matthieu Blazy.
The role places Heather within the technical execution of Blazy’s Chanel couture rather than as an independent collection author. His Artisanal background is relevant to the material illusion, handwork and complex construction developed during the opening Chanel collections.
Design ethos
Heather’s practice is grounded in studio translation. Concept and sketch must be resolved through toile, fabric behaviour, internal support and the hand processes of couture specialists.
Experience across Artisanal and established couture houses makes recovered technique and atelier collaboration central to the work. Authorship remains shared with the creative director, premières and specialist workshops.
