Introduction
Arnaud Chastaingt is a watch designer who has directed Chanel’s Watchmaking Creation Studio since 2013. His remit is distinct from the Fine Jewellery Creation Studio, preserving a separate line of horological authorship within the Watches and Fine Jewellery division.
Chastaingt inherited a modern watch vocabulary established by Jacques Helleu through the Première and J12. His role covers the continued development of Chanel watch design within the manufacture and case-making infrastructure secured through G&F Châtelain.
Design ethos
Chastaingt treats the watch as an object governed by case geometry, material, dial and movement rather than as jewellery with a secondary timekeeping function.
The work develops existing families through controlled variation while protecting their structural recognition. Technical manufacturing and visual restraint operate together across the studio.
