Introduction
Daryoush Mahboubi-Fardi, commonly identified as Dar Mahboubi, is the founding business partner and long-term co-owner of House of Bijan. He worked with Bijan Pakzad in establishing the Rodeo Drive company in 1976, providing the financial, property and operating structure behind a brand otherwise closely identified with its designer’s public personality.
Mahboubi remained important to the company after Pakzad’s death in 2011. Public records and business reporting connect him to the ownership and governance of the house, the Rodeo Collection property structure and the 2016 sale of the original 420 N Rodeo Drive building to LVMH. His role is organisational rather than one of documented garment authorship.
Design ethos
Mahboubi’s contribution is best understood through business and retail architecture. The appointment-only showroom required control of property, access and operating scale, allowing the company to serve a narrow private clientele without depending on high-volume foot traffic or seasonal wholesale distribution.
That structure also helped the house survive beyond its founder. Continued family ownership, the move to 443 N Rodeo Drive and the use of tightly selected satellite boutiques preserved the brand’s independent retail model while separating the value of the company from the sale of its original building.
