Davide Renne

Davide Renne was an Italian designer who spent approximately two decades at Gucci and became one of the senior figures in its womenswear studio. Working across the Giannini and Michele periods, he served for eight years as head of womenswear design and helped translate broad creative direction into seasonal ready-to-wear.

Moschino appointed Renne creative director in October 2023. He began the role on 1 November and died on 10 November, before presenting a collection. His career makes visible the long-term studio authorship that can sit beneath the public figure of a house creative director.

Renne’s contribution was rooted in studio development: turning visual concepts, archive research and styling proposals into coherent womenswear lines at global scale. This required technical judgement, continuity between categories and close coordination with the atelier.

Because much of the work was produced inside Gucci’s collective system, individual garment claims remain limited. His senior responsibility nevertheless documents the importance of experienced internal designers to Michele’s expansive collections.
