Flora Dolci

Flora Dolci was the co-founder and founding workshop partner of Krizia. In 1954 she and Mariuccia Mandelli established a small clothing operation in Milan, producing simple women's garments and building the label through direct sales to ready-to-wear shops. Contemporary institutional histories and later accounts consistently place Dolci beside Mandelli at the beginning of the company.

The early workshop developed into the Krizia label that made its first public collection appearance at SAMIA in Turin in 1957. Dolci's public role is concentrated in this founding period, when the business combined garment making, small-scale production and direct contact with buyers. Later public histories of Krizia centre increasingly on Mandelli's design leadership, and Her later title, ownership position and departure date remain unknown.

Her place in the Krizia history is therefore foundational. The 1954 company origin is a joint Mandelli–Dolci event, and Dolci belongs to the house's authorship map as the partner who helped turn Mandelli's move from teaching into a functioning Milan clothing workshop and commercial label.

The work associated with Dolci belongs to Krizia's earliest workshop phase, when the label concentrated on straightforward skirts, dresses, blouses and related separates. The scale was compact and practical, joining design, making and selling in the same operation. This direct structure shaped the first years of the house before its move onto larger trade and runway platforms.

No separate collection language is attributed to Dolci outside the shared founding workshop. Her contribution is best understood through the collective discipline of the early Krizia operation: simple forms, workable production and direct presentation to shops, establishing the base from which the later house could expand.
