Introduction
Juliette Hogan is a New Zealand fashion designer and the founder and Director of the Auckland label that bears her name. She studied textile design at Massey University before receiving the Karen Walker and Steinlager Dare to Be scholarship in 2002, which took her to New York to complete the final stage of her studies and intern with Rebecca Taylor. Hogan returned to New Zealand and incorporated Juliette Hogan Limited on 15 January 2004, initially wholesaling collections from her family property in Karaka before making her Air New Zealand Fashion Week debut in September 2006.
Hogan expanded the business through owned retail, opening the first Ponsonby boutique in 2007 and later stores in Newmarket, Wellington, Christchurch and Commercial Bay. She developed Juliette Hogan Bridal, JH Lounge and Foundation Suiting alongside the main collection and retained close ties to New Zealand manufacturing through Avenue Clothing. Beyond the company, she joined the board of Mindful Fashion NZ in 2022 and became Chair in 2023; she remains Chair of the organisation under its current Fashion & Textiles New Zealand identity.
Design ethos
Hogan approaches clothing through textile, print and proportion. Her collections use silks, crepes, linens, cottons, knitwear and tailored cloths to build a wardrobe that is polished without becoming rigid, with bias-cut dresses, fluid trousers, softened jackets and restrained evening pieces recurring across the house. Original print development and fabric surface often provide the strongest seasonal shift, allowing familiar silhouettes to change character without abandoning their practical use.
Her working method is closely connected to local production and long-term development. The relationship with Avenue Clothing allows much of the mainline to be made in New Zealand, while the workroom handles design, sampling and bespoke bridal. In recent years Hogan has shared collection development with Alice Feutz, preserving final house authority while opening the design process to a senior collaborator whose art direction, styling and image work now shapes how the clothes are seen as well as how parts of the range are developed.

Career history
2026
Juliette Hogan is scheduled to return to Shed 10 at New Zealand Fashion Week on 18 August 2026. Collection 2026.FOUR is being promoted as forthcoming ahead of the event, so the show remains an announced future presentation at this stage.
2026
By 5 June 2026 the Juliette Hogan workroom was operating from Avondale. The site now supports collection development and the house’s bespoke bridal process, replacing Morningside as the current creative workroom.
2024
Juliette Hogan closed its Ponsonby store during 2024 and retired the older Britomart location before opening Commercial Bay on 5 March 2025. Fixtures from both former stores were reused in the new CBD space, leaving a four-store network across Newmarket, Commercial Bay, Wellington and Christchurch.
2024
Foundation Suiting introduced a permanent tailoring base of jackets, waistcoats and trousers on 22 May 2024. The line was designed to remain available across collection changes and provide a stable framework for the house’s seasonal fabrics and prints.
2023
Hogan became Chair of Mindful Fashion NZ in 2023 and continues in the role under the organisation’s Fashion & Textiles New Zealand identity. The position extends her work beyond the company into national industry governance.
2022
Hogan joined the board of Mindful Fashion NZ in 2022 and the company published its first sustainability progress report the same year. The appointment placed the founder inside a collective effort to improve material, labour and supply-chain practice across New Zealand fashion.
2021
The intended 2021 New Zealand Fashion Week presentation was cancelled during the pandemic, and Juliette Hogan released the work as Collection 2022.ONE Digital Presentation. The film kept the collection in public view without converting the cancelled runway into an in-person show.
2020
JH Lounge launched in 2020 as the house expanded into elevated loungewear and knitwear. The line remains part of the current Juliette Hogan offer and uses materials including organic cotton and traceable cashmere.
2019
In 2019 Juliette Hogan moved its central workroom to Ethel Street in Morningside. The larger site brought design, production and administration together and became the setting for the label’s Autumn/Winter 2020 offsite fashion-week presentation.
2018
Juliette Hogan Bridal formalised the house’s custom wedding work in 2018. The line centres on understated silk and bias-cut dressing and later incorporated a structured bespoke service handled through the main workroom.
2017
Juliette Hogan’s relationship with Amisfield began with a staff-uniform commission in 2017. It later expanded into a bespoke textile print and a co-branded rosé, extending the house’s design work into hospitality and wine.
2013
The opening of Britomart in 2013 began a wider owned-store expansion that continued through Newmarket in 2015, Wellington in 2017 and Christchurch in 2021. The network gave Juliette Hogan direct retail reach across New Zealand’s principal urban markets.
2007
In 2007 Juliette Hogan opened its first owned store at 170 Ponsonby Road and moved the workroom from Karaka to the floor above. The shift joined wholesale activity to a direct retail operation and established an urban base for the growing company.
2006
Avenue Clothing became a principal manufacturing partner around 2006 and continues to produce much of Juliette Hogan’s main collection in New Zealand. The relationship gave the label a durable local production base as its retail and collection output expanded.
2004
The label’s first commercial phase was based at the Hogan family property in Karaka. Collections were sold through wholesale stockists while the young company built its production and sales network before opening its own retail space.
2004
Hogan has remained the house’s Director and named designer from foundation through the current period. She retains final authority across collection design, brand direction and the company while working with an expanded internal design team.
2004
Juliette Hogan Limited was incorporated in New Zealand on 15 January 2004. Hogan began the label as a wholesale business, using the company as the base for collections developed after her return from study in New York.
