Introduction
Kiko Kostadinov is a Bulgarian-born, London-based fashion designer and founder of the Kiko Kostadinov label. After studying at Central Saint Martins, he launched the brand in 2016 with a menswear practice rooted in uniforms, workwear, technical pattern cutting and the discipline of construction. The early collections placed him within London’s independent menswear scene before the label moved into a wider Paris calendar presence.
His authorship now extends beyond the mainline. Kostadinov has directed menswear for his own label, held an early external appointment at Mackintosh 0001, co-founded AFFXWRKS and built one of contemporary fashion’s most recognisable long-term footwear relationships through ASICS and ASICS Novalis. Within the Kiko Kostadinov brand, he works alongside Laura and Deanna Fanning, whose womenswear direction gives the house a separate but connected line of authorship.
Design ethos
Kostadinov’s design ethos is grounded in the physical logic of garments: how a jacket is cut, how a trouser turns around the knee, how pockets, closures and panels can change the body’s outline without becoming decorative noise. His menswear often starts from practical dress — uniforms, protective layers, work clothing, outdoor systems — then compresses those references into dense, engineered silhouettes.
The work is also built through collaboration and product systems. ASICS gave Kostadinov a recurring technical platform, while Camper, Mackintosh, Levi’s and Crocs allowed him to test the same construction-led approach in footwear, denim, rainwear and industrial product. His best-known language is austere but not plain: colour, asymmetry, surface and odd proportion interrupt the functional chassis.
