Introduction
Leon Emanuel Blanck is a fashion designer and multidisciplinary maker who entered fashion without formal design-school training. He studied Business Administration, lived for a period in Hong Kong and pursued his own study of fur and leather by approaching craftspeople directly. In 2012 he founded his eponymous label in Heidelberg, working from the Dezernat 16 creative centre and using his own moving body as the starting point for the trouser experiment that became the Genesis project.
Blanck entered the Paris wholesale market independently in January 2013 with eight garments and a resin sculpture. The first full seasonal collection, Autumn/Winter 2013/14 ANFRACTUOUS DISTORTION, formalised the movement-led pattern method that became his signature. As the label expanded internationally he developed Forced Perspective as a more repeatable mirrored system, built a wider product vocabulary in footwear and bags, and moved increasingly into jewellery, furniture and sculpture.
His practice later consolidated around an appointment-only Berlin showroom while maintaining private seasonal presentations in Paris. Projects such as STRUKTUR with Illya Goldman Gubin, Christo with Trippen, the 0110 SPECIMEN installation and ZENON with Alpinestars RSRV extended his work beyond conventional garments. Blanck remains the principal designer of the mainline and provides the creative vision for LEB, the secondary line directed artistically by Goldman Gubin.
Design ethos
Blanck’s central method, Anfractuous Distortion, treats a moving body as the surface on which a pattern is generated. Fabric is wrapped, pulled and pinned as the body shifts; the resulting cast is cut apart along the lines created by tension and movement, producing non-mirrored panels with irregular seams. The method gives jackets and trousers a distinctly asymmetric architecture without relying on conventional flat-pattern symmetry.
He has repeatedly built alternatives around that core system. Forced Perspective mirrors one side of an existing Anfractuous Distortion pattern to create a more repeatable structure, while Polygon exchanges the original method’s winding curves for hard angles and geometric lines. These approaches show a consistent interest in pattern as a generator of form, with leather, technical cloth, footwear and bags carrying the same emphasis on compression, wrapping and visible construction.
Blanck also treats the boundary between garment and object as permeable. Body casts are fixed in epoxy, footwear is embedded inside sculpture, jewellery turns molten or broken surfaces into metal, and installations suspend archival garments in rigid resin. Collaborations with artists, footwear makers and motorsport specialists give him access to materials and fabrication systems outside the atelier while retaining the tension between movement, enclosure and static form that runs through his own work.

LEB developed into an active secondary line with its own archive, retail section and two named seasonal collections. Its authorship combines artistic direction by Illya Goldman Gubin with creative vision by Leon Emanuel Blanck, while Kollektion Eins adds Italian garment and footwear production to the wider label’s Berlin-centred practice.
2025
For the 2025 ZENON project, Leon Emanuel Blanck worked with Alpinestars RSRV by dismantling original racing gear and placing Blanck’s jacket, trouser and boot patterns over the recovered material. The same project extended into the separate Zenon One custom motorcycle, broadening the atelier’s engagement with motorsport materials and machinery.
2024
Polygon appeared in 2024 as an angular counter-project to the flowing seam architecture of Anfractuous Distortion, using hard lines and geometry informed by military hardware. At the same time, the label explicitly presented men’s and women’s clothing and footwear, making its mixed-gender commercial scope visible within the mainline.
2023
By November 2023 Leon Emanuel Blanck had opened an appointment-only showroom at Herzbergstraße 55 in Berlin, consolidating the city as the label’s public creative and client-facing base. Heidelberg remained part of the business through its legal notice, while the Berlin site carried the atelier’s current fashion and object practice.
2023
In January 2023 Blanck presented 0110 SPECIMEN at Rue Martel in Paris alongside the seasonal 0110 collection. Ten two-metre constructions combined X-ray exoskeletons and archival garments before being fixed in large quantities of epoxy, turning a decade of movement-led fashion into static sculptural specimens.
2022
Leon Emanuel Blanck collaborated with Berlin footwear company Trippen on Christo in 2022. Heavy leather wrapping concealed and reshaped the underlying shoe, extending the label’s garment-wrapping logic into a specialised footwear construction.
2021
The early 2020s widened the atelier beyond seasonal clothing through named jewellery systems and standalone objects. LIQUID and FRACTURE translated flowing and broken surfaces into metal, while furniture and resin works carried Blanck’s interest in bodily form into static objects.
2018
Forced Perspective was publicly articulated in 2018 as a mirrored derivative of Anfractuous Distortion. By selecting one side of an existing pattern and reflecting it across a central axis, Blanck retained the label’s dense seam language in a more repeatable construction system.
2013
Blanck formalised Anfractuous Distortion in the first full seasonal cycle, developing patterns from fabric wrapped and pinned on a moving body. Its non-mirrored panels, displaced seams and three-dimensional body casts became a persistent construction system across the label’s clothing and sculptural work.
2013
Blanck travelled to Paris in January 2013 with an eight-piece capsule and a resin sculpture, showing independently from a small Marais space. The presentation secured the label’s first wholesale orders and established Paris appointments as its route into the international fashion market.
