Introduction
Lucia Croce is an Italian fashion designer whose career developed through senior studio work in European ready-to-wear. Before Vionnet her experience included houses and labels such as Ter et Bantine, Valentino and Neil Barrett, alongside international design work that gave her a broad foundation in womenswear and product development.
In October 2011 Lucia and her twin sister Barbara Croce were appointed Co-Creative Directors of Vionnet after Rodolfo Paglialunga left the house. Their first collection was Pre-Fall 2012, followed by Fall/Winter 2012–13 and Resort 2013. Contemporary coverage explicitly identified the Resort collection as their third for Vionnet.
Their collaboration with Vionnet ended in August 2012. The house assigned Spring/Summer 2013 to its internal design team under Goga Ashkenazi’s new creative direction, fixing the Croce sisters’ completed output at three collections. Lucia Croce’s role belongs to the collaborative studio history of the revived house and to a wider career across Italian and international fashion.
Design ethos
Lucia Croce’s Vionnet work was jointly authored with Barbara Croce, combining the house’s draped vocabulary with a compact contemporary wardrobe. Fluid trousers, tunics, dresses and softly structured outerwear gave the collections a practical rhythm while preserving asymmetry and movement as recurring signatures.
Material contrast helped organise the silhouette. Light georgette and satin could move freely around the body, then meet fur, denser layers or cleaner tailoring. The clothes relied on fabric fall and proportion to create visual interest, with geometric cutting keeping a connection to Vionnet’s historical construction language.
Her wider studio experience supports an approach grounded in collection building and product coherence. At Vionnet, individual draped pieces were balanced by separates and outerwear that could carry the same house identity through everyday use, giving the short Croce tenure a clear and consistent design character.

Barbara and Lucia Croce ended their collaboration with Vionnet in late August 2012. The house assigned completion of the next ready-to-wear collection to its in-house team, closing the sisters’ three-collection tenure.

Vionnet appointed Barbara and Lucia Croce as Co-Creative Directors in October 2011 following Rodolfo Paglialunga’s departure. Their shared tenure produced three completed collections before ending in August 2012.
