Introduction
Manish Chopra is a business executive whose career has moved across technology, consumer businesses, digital platforms and retail. An alumnus of SPJIMR’s PGDM/MMS Class of 1992, he worked in early corporate roles at Crompton Greaves and PwC before holding leadership positions with Oracle and Microsoft, including operating and marketing responsibilities in Indonesia. He later founded the fashion e-commerce company Zovi and co-founded the local-commerce platform Little Internet.
Chopra subsequently moved into large digital-platform and consumer businesses. At Meta he served as Director and Head of Partnerships India, working across business development and partnerships for Facebook and Instagram, and he later held a senior role at Reliance Retail-backed Shein India. These positions combined digital distribution, consumer acquisition, partnerships and the scaling of platform-led businesses across the Indian market.
Chopra became CEO of Sabyasachi Calcutta LLP effective 1 July 2025. His appointment introduced a clearly identified chief executive role alongside Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s continuing position as Founder and Creative Director, separating day-to-day executive management from collection authorship. He joined the house during a period of international retail expansion, majority ownership by ABFRL and growing Fine Jewellery distribution.
Design ethos
Chopra’s work is operational and does not carry fashion-design authorship. Across entrepreneurial, technology and platform roles, his career has centred on building consumer businesses through distribution, partnerships, digital channels and organisational scale. The recurring emphasis is on connecting product or content to wider audiences while maintaining an operating structure capable of supporting growth.
His experience at Meta placed partnerships and platform ecosystems at the centre of that approach, while Zovi, Little Internet and Shein India added direct exposure to e-commerce, retail and digitally led consumer behaviour. At Sabyasachi this background sits beside an established network of flagships, jewellery channels and international projects, giving the executive function a remit distinct from the founder’s creative direction.
The current leadership model combines two different forms of authorship: Mukherjee directs the house’s fashion, jewellery and visual language, while Chopra leads executive operations. That separation is especially relevant to a luxury business balancing controlled distribution, physical retail, digital commerce and institutional ownership across several markets.
