Introduction
Marie-Laure Cérède is a French jewellery designer whose career includes senior creative work at Harry Winston and the direction of jewellery and watchmaking at Cartier. Chanel announced her as the next director of its Jewellery Creation Studio, with the appointment scheduled to take effect in October 2026.
Cérède succeeds Patrice Leguéreau after his death in 2024 and enters a division separated from Arnaud Chastaingt’s watchmaking studio. At the July 2026 research cutoff she had not yet produced a Chanel collection, so her page records the verified appointment without attributing existing jewellery to her.
Design ethos
Cérède’s practice is grounded in precious-material design across jewellery and watchmaking, where motif, setting, articulation and the behaviour of a piece on the body must be resolved together.
Her Chanel authorship remains prospective at the current cutoff. The significance of the appointment lies in bringing cross-house hard-luxury experience into a studio with its own history, rather than in claims about collections that have not yet appeared.
