Introduction
Patrice Leguéreau was a jewellery designer who joined Chanel in 2009 and directed the Fine Jewellery Creation Studio from 2013 until his death in November 2024. He developed the division after its 1993 formalisation and extended the house’s jewellery vocabulary across recurring high-jewellery programmes.
His collections included Coromandel, 1932 and Tweed de Chanel. The latter translated the flexibility and visual rhythm of woven cloth into articulated gold and gemstones, connecting jewellery engineering to a material central to the fashion house.
Design ethos
Leguéreau worked by converting soft references into hard structures. Fringes, ribbons, screens and tweed required hinges, settings and repeated modules capable of preserving movement in precious material.
Narrative titles were supported by technical systems rather than applied decoration. The strongest pieces made a house code legible through articulation and construction before relying on emblem.
