Introduction
Peggy Huynh Kinh entered Balmain’s post-founder structure in 1982 with artistic direction of women’s ready-to-wear and licence studios for women’s accessories and home goods. Her remit was separate from Erik Mortensen’s couture succession and Dominique Morlotti’s menswear authority.
Design ethos
The research supports a category and studio role but not an exact first collection, end date or authorship of Balmain Ivoire. Those gaps should remain visible rather than assigning her Mortensen’s later ready-to-wear work.
