Introduction
RICO is a Japanese designer credited alongside Jun Takahashi on the children's and baby ranges of UNIQLO × UNDERCOVER's UU collaboration. The first UU project launched in 2012 as a family collection spanning menswear, womenswear, kids and baby. RICO's credit gave her a defined design role within the child-focused part of the collaboration.
RICO returned for the revived UU Kids phase in 2014–15. Her contribution is directly attached to the children's collections in the later collaboration seasons, including the 2015 releases that brought the project to its conclusion. Across UU, her role centred on childrenswear and baby product within a broader family wardrobe developed with Takahashi.
Design ethos
RICO's contribution to UU centred on clothing for children and babies inside a broader family wardrobe. The work used colour, graphics and practical silhouettes suited to movement and daily wear while giving the children's categories a distinct visual identity.
The 2014–15 Kids revival narrowed the collaboration to childrenswear and clarified that remit. Across the recurring UU credits, RICO helped translate UNDERCOVER's playful graphic vocabulary into accessible children's clothing for UNIQLO's large-scale retail context.
