Introduction
Romain Kremer is a French fashion designer who launched his eponymous experimental menswear identity around 2005 after recognition at the Festival International de Mode et de Photographie in Hyères. His early work developed a highly synthetic, performance-aware approach to menswear before he entered larger brand structures.
Kremer became Mugler’s Responsable de Création Homme, or Head Designer Men, in September 2010, working under Nicola Formichetti’s overall creative direction until April 2013. He was the line designer behind the relaunch menswear sequence, including the Fall/Winter 2011–12 debut and Spring/Summer 2012 collection linked to Brothers of Arcadia. After earlier Camper Together projects and consulting from 2009, he served as Camper’s first company-wide Creative Director from June 2014 through 2019.
Design ethos
Kremer’s work uses the dressed body as a graphic and performative surface. Synthetic materials, close fits, exaggerated accessories and futuristic styling make movement and character as important as conventional tailoring, while footwear and product can carry the same visual logic as a runway silhouette.
At Mugler, that approach was channelled into line-specific menswear design inside a wider image system of film, music and digital publication. At Camper, it expanded across collections and communication. In both contexts, the contribution lies in connecting experimental form to a complete brand environment without erasing the distinction between product design and overall creative direction.
