Introduction
Simone Rizzo is an Italian fashion designer and creative director who co-founded SUNNEI with Loris Messina in Milan in 2014. He studied business management and digital media management and worked as a menswear buyer before launching the label. His experience in buying and digital communication informed a brand built through direct sales, social media and a close community of artists, musicians and architects.
Rizzo and Messina directed SUNNEI as an undivided partnership until September 2025, when they announced their departure after a mock auction staged for Spring/Summer 2026. Aeffe appointed them co-creative directors of Moschino on 21 June 2026. Their first collection for the house is scheduled for Milan Fashion Week in September 2026.
Design ethos
Rizzo’s practice links product, image and participation. At SUNNEI, bright colour, graphic stripes and relaxed silhouettes were carried through casting, sound, digital platforms and retail spaces, allowing the collection to operate as part of a wider cultural programme.
He and Messina used humour to expose routine fashion behaviour without abandoning commercial product. Audience scoring, recorded model monologues and the final auction show turned industry rituals into visible subjects, while the clothing retained a direct and wearable structure.
