Introduction
Tiziano Gusti was a Milan fashion businessman and the commercial partner involved in the formation of Moschino. In 1982 he approached Franco Moschino with the proposal that they create an independent business, helping organise the venture that became the public Moschino label in 1983 through the company Moonshadow.
Contemporary reporting presents Gusti as the managerial counterweight who kept commercial obligations visible while Moschino developed the creative identity. The surviving evidence does not establish Gusti as a co-designer, sole financier or confirmed shareholder, and no precise executive title or end date has been recovered.
Design ethos
Gusti’s contribution was operational rather than apparel-based. The founding structure separated label identity and creative authorship from manufacturing and distribution, with Moonshadow behind the house and Aeffe working under an exclusive licence from the outset.
That arrangement gave Moschino room to build an openly critical fashion language inside a viable commercial system. Gusti’s documented role lies in forming and managing that structure; individual collection authorship remains with Franco Moschino and the design studio.
