Introduction
Katy Farage is a fashion designer and co-founder of Farage, established in Sydney with Joe Farage in 1998. Before the label began she was finishing fashion study in Brisbane and preparing to move to Sydney for work experience. The founders entered retail through the Strand Arcade and learnt production and construction together while building an initially menswear-focused business around shirts and tailoring.
Katy remained part of Farage’s creative authorship as the company expanded into womenswear in 2003. Joe and Katy worked together as the label’s designers, and the womenswear launch introduced a faster, more pattern-intensive development rhythm to the house. By 2023 she held the title of co-creative director and continues to lead Farage with Joe.
Katy’s current title is co-creative director, a house-wide role alongside Joe’s creative directorship. She was jointly credited with Joe as a designer of Summer 26 Runway, Farage’s first Australian Fashion Week show in 2025, and took the closing bow with him after the co-ed collection. The founders’ continuing partnership remains central to Farage’s combination of tailoring, womenswear, retail and institutional clothing.
Design ethos
Katy Farage’s design work developed inside a tailoring-led business but expanded its vocabulary beyond the original menswear proposition. The move into womenswear required faster product development, more frequent pattern work and a broader range of silhouettes, while retaining the house’s attention to fabric, fit and construction.
Her contribution is best understood through Farage’s joint creative system rather than through an artificially separate category. Shirts, suiting, dresses and eveningwear sit within the same material and production network, combining Sydney manufacturing for selected categories with specialist European tailoring and fabrics where appropriate.
Summer 26 Runway brought that shared approach onto the Australian Fashion Week runway for the first time. The co-ed collection revisited the house’s tailoring and formalwear history through precise suiting, shirting, dresses and evening pieces, presenting Farage’s established codes as a contemporary wardrobe rather than separating menswear and womenswear into isolated design languages.

Career history
2023
By July 2023, Katy Farage held the titles of co-founder and co-creative director at Farage, reflecting her continuing role in the house’s design leadership. She remains a joint house leader and was credited with Joe Farage as a designer of the co-ed Summer 26 Runway collection in 2025.
2023
Farage opened Farage House at 109 Riley Street, Darlinghurst, in July 2023 as a five-level flagship and headquarters developed with Greg Natale. Moving creative, marketing and office teams from the Surry Hills factory into the new building freed production space as corporate apparel had grown to roughly half of company turnover.
2008
Farage began a long-running formalwear and sponsorship relationship with the Sydney Swans around 2008–2010, supplying event suits for players, coaches and staff rather than on-field kit. The partnership became a durable extension of the house’s tailoring business and was renewed in 2024 through the end of 2028.
2003
Farage expanded into womenswear in 2003 under the joint direction of Joe and Katy Farage and opened its first women’s store in the Strand Arcade. The new category required faster product development and more frequent pattern work, broadening the operating rhythm of the originally menswear-led business.
1998
Joe and Katy Farage founded Farage in Sydney in 1998, launching an initially menswear-focused business from the Strand Arcade around tailored shirts and suiting. The brand’s public foundation predates the later Farage Pty Limited company entity and established the founder partnership that still leads the house.
