Introduction
Laura Moltedo, also documented as Laura Braggion and Laura Taddei, was the owner-level creative authority who led Bottega Veneta through its international Moltedo period. Retrospective sources connect her to Andy Warhol’s Factory and to the house’s New York operations, but the exact dates and formal titles of those early roles remain unresolved. The strongest contemporary evidence identifies her as Bottega Veneta’s designer by 1993 and as owner and Creative Director by November 2000.
Under Moltedo, the house retained its leather-goods identity while developing a more explicit fashion operation. Edward Buchanan built the dedicated ready-to-wear programme under her approval, and the late studio included named footwear, bag, knitwear, styling and accessories specialists. Gucci Group’s February 2001 acquisition announcement initially said that she would remain Creative Director, but a replacement team was installed in June; her exact final working day and the legal mechanism by which she had acquired ownership are still unknown.
Design ethos
Moltedo’s work combined house-level approval with distributed category authorship. Leather goods and Intrecciato remained central, while clothing, shoes, accessories and campaigns were developed through designers and consultants whose roles became increasingly visible in the 1990s.
Her period cannot be reduced to one continuous personal style because the 1980s studio ledger is incomplete and the late-1990s system was deliberately collaborative. The recoverable method is institutional: preserve the workshop identity, expand the international image and allow ready-to-wear and editorial direction to operate beside the established leather business.

Career history
2001
The February 2001 acquisition announcement said that Laura Moltedo would continue as Creative Director, but Gucci Group installed a replacement management and creative structure with immediate effect on 19 June. Her exact final working day and any transition arrangement remain unresolved, so the record uses the new structure as the supported outer boundary rather than inventing a precise departure date.
1993
Laura Moltedo was publicly identified as Bottega Veneta’s designer by 1993 and as owner and Creative Director by November 2000. Her house-level authority continued into the 2001 acquisition transition, but its exact starting date and her final working day remain unresolved.
