Introduction
Matteo Tamburini is an Italian fashion designer born in Pesaro in 1982. His documented career includes work with Marco Zanini’s teams at Rochas and Schiaparelli, followed by ready-to-wear and accessories work at Emilio Pucci from 2015.
Tamburini joined Bottega Veneta in 2017. Tod’s later described his remit there as head designer for leather garments, outerwear and men’s and women’s tailoring; later accounts identify him as head of ready-to-wear, but no public creative-director appointment at Bottega Veneta has been established.
Tod’s appointed him creative director of its women’s and men’s collections on 1 December 2023. His first collection was Autumn–Winter 2024–25 womenswear, shown in Milan on 23 February 2024; his first menswear followed for Spring–Summer 2025.
Design ethos
Tamburini works by reducing familiar wardrobe forms until material, cut and movement carry the image. Long coats, softened tailoring, trousers with an extended break and compact leather accessories recur, while surface detail is generally subordinated to proportion and touch.
At Tod’s he has treated leather as a garment fabric: draped, perforated, bonded, patinated or cut into applied stripes. The approach draws on the technical knowledge acquired in senior studio roles while keeping authorship distributed among pattern cutters, leather specialists and the house’s artisans.

2024
Matteo Tamburini presented his first Tod’s collection, Autumn–Winter 2024–25 womenswear, at a Milan tram depot on 23 February 2024. The debut established his material direction through leather outerwear, elongated tailoring and revised Gommino and Di Bag forms.
2023
Tod’s appointed Matteo Tamburini creative director of women’s and men’s collections on 1 December 2023. He remains in the role through the research cutoff, directing a unified system with separate seasonal presentation calendars.
2017
Tamburini entered the design studio and later became Head Designer.
2015
Matteo Tamburini joined Emilio Pucci around 2015, working across ready-to-wear and accessories. He remained through 2017 before moving to Bottega Veneta.
2013
Matteo Tamburini worked in Schiaparelli’s design studio under Marco Zanini from around 2013 to 2015. The two-year period continued the studio relationship established during their earlier Rochas work.
2009
Matteo Tamburini joined the Rochas design studio under Marco Zanini around 2009 and spent roughly two years at the house. The role preceded his later move with Zanini to Schiaparelli.
