Introduction
Monica Chiozzi is a leather-goods designer whose documented Tod’s work separates object design from collection direction. In 2015 the house engaged her as an independent contractor for women’s leather goods, including handbags developed for Spring–Summer 2016.
Chiozzi designed the Double T hardware introduced in September 2015 on bags and shoes. A 2026 federal-court opinion records both her contractor status and the design credit, providing unusually direct evidence for a product whose runway context is otherwise associated with Alessandra Facchinetti.
Her confirmed Tod’s chronology remains narrower than the later reach of the Double T code. The available evidence supports authorship of the hardware and women’s leather-goods work in 2015–16, but not an expanded claim over every Facchinetti-era bag or the complete later T Timeless range.
Design ethos
The clearest surviving example of Chiozzi’s practice is a compact piece of hardware designed to work across product categories. Double T functions as closure, reinforcement and identifying mark on bags, shoes and later small leather goods, making construction and recognition part of the same object.
The record does not support a broader personal style narrative beyond the documented products. At Tod’s, her significance lies in precise object-level authorship within a larger system: Facchinetti directed the collection, while Chiozzi designed the hardware that became one of its durable codes.
