Introduction
Robin Brown is a British production designer and visual artist whose career spans film, music video, advertising, art installation and fashion. Trained at Hornsey College of Art in furniture design, he has built a long production-design career creating fictional environments, period reconstructions and large-scale visual settings in which architecture and objects carry narrative.
His credits include production design for films and screen projects as well as music videos for artists including Madonna, Robbie Williams and George Michael, and major advertising work for brands including Mercedes-Benz, Levi’s and John Lewis. Brown has also developed immersive art installations such as The Collector and The Asylum for Frieze Masters, using furnished environments, broadcast material and sound to construct complete fictional lives around displayed works.
Brown’s relationship with ERDEM extends from runway to permanent retail. For Autumn/Winter 2015 he created a decaying 1960s Paris apartment for a fictional collector, turning the runway into a fully inhabited narrative set. He later contributed scenic work to ERDEM’s Sloane Street store in 2025, and his own studio biography identifies him as a Creative Director for ERDEM catwalk shows, confirming a wider role in the spatial presentation of the house.
Design ethos
Brown designs environments from the viewpoint of character. Furniture, wear, lighting, sound and accumulated objects are used to imply events that occurred before the viewer arrived, giving a set the density of a real place with a history. Period accuracy can coexist with invented biography, allowing factual detail to support fiction.
His background in furniture design is visible in the precision of rooms and props. A production can hinge on the placement of a chair, an aged surface or a sequence of domestic objects as much as on architectural scale. This attention makes his spaces effective across film, advertising and installation, where the environment must communicate quickly while still rewarding close viewing.
At ERDEM, Brown’s work amplifies the psychological dimension of Moralıoğlu’s collections. The Autumn/Winter 2015 apartment used deterioration, magazines, glassware and soot to define an unseen resident, while the later Sloane Street contribution carried scenic authorship into a permanent retail setting.

ERDEM opened its first store outside London at Shinsegae Gangnam in Seoul on 30 August 2024, followed by Shinsegae Main in March 2025 and a second London store on Sloane Street that October. Philip Joseph led the architecture across the expansion, and Robin Brown contributed scenic work to Sloane Street.
2015
Production designer Robin Brown built the decaying Paris apartment used for ERDEM’s Autumn/Winter 2015 runway. The constructed interior made the fictional collector and her deteriorating circumstances part of the collection’s presentation.
