Introduction
Sensen Lii is a Chinese fashion designer and the founder of WINDOWSEN. He trained first in musical theatre and performance at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, where backstage costume changes and the visual mechanics of stage dress redirected his attention towards fashion. He later worked in styling and as an assistant designer at Ground Zero before entering the fashion programme at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp.
Lii left Antwerp before graduation to design the opening looks for Sammi Cheng’s 2019 #FOLLOWMi concerts. His international runway debut had already taken place through VFiles in New York in 2018, and he formally launched WINDOWSEN the following year. Since then, his practice has moved between Shanghai and Paris, encompassing ready-to-wear, semi-couture, performance commissions and collaborations with Nike, Beats and Preciosa.
Design ethos
Lii builds fashion through performance logic. Silhouette must register from a distance, survive movement and transform the wearer into a complete character. Organza, tulle, crystal, synthetic leather and sportswear hardware are used to enlarge or replace ordinary anatomy with robotic limbs, alien skin and protective armour.
His work rejects fixed gender categories and treats the body as a mutable platform. High heels are developed in extended sizes, corsets and bodysuits are cast across genders, and runway casts draw from drag, ballroom and club culture. The result combines the control of stage costume with the speed, utility and graphic directness of technical sportswear.

Career history
2023
WINDOWSEN expanded its runway activity to Paris and developed interconnected collection narratives around virtual romance, rebellion and digital transformation. Major Nike and Beats projects moved the label’s imagery into commercial footwear and technology without replacing its semi-couture research.
2020
Lii consolidated the label in Shanghai, using the city’s production network and fashion-week platform to expand the WINDOWSEN universe. Barbie with the Chinese Zodiac, Monster Heart and the MX Ridiculous project fixed the label’s combination of demi-couture, sportswear, ballroom casting and alien narrative.
2019
After presenting the project through VFiles in September 2018, Sensen Lii formalised WINDOWSEN as an independent brand in 2019. The early work established its genderless casting, digital colour, technical sportswear and body-altering semi-couture.
