Introduction
Takeshi Kosaka is a Japanese patternmaker and designer whose work crossed several parts of the Yohji Yamamoto system. Contemporary profiles place him in Y’s for men and Yohji Yamamoto Homme before he joined Y’s from Spring/Summer 2009 and assumed direction of Y’s Pink Label from Spring/Summer 2011.
Spring/Summer 2014 introduced the named Takeshi Kosaka by Y’s Pink Label line, making his delegated authorship explicit. His exact company start, internal titles and current status remain unresolved, so the documented chronology is limited to those line and season boundaries.
Design ethos
Kosaka’s practice developed through pattern and collection planning across menswear and womenswear. That cross-line experience supports a design language built from relaxed tailoring, layered proportion and the conversion of established Y’s forms into a more individually directed line.
The named Pink Label project is evidence of responsibility for a bounded programme, not of control over all Y’s. Its significance is organisational as well as visual: it records how a long-serving technical designer could acquire public authorship inside an atelier-led house.

Career history
2014
The named Takeshi Kosaka by Y’s Pink Label programme appeared for Spring/Summer 2014 after Kosaka’s earlier responsibility for Y’s Pink Label. It formalised his delegated line authorship within the Y’s studio.
2014
Y’s expanded its named internal lines through RISMAT by Y’s, Takeshi Kosaka by Y’s Pink Label and KAYO NAKAMURA by Y’s. The programmes made individual design and product responsibilities visible without replacing the main line’s collective atelier attribution.
