Overview
Ashlyn is an independent New York fashion label founded by Seoul-born designer and pattern cutter Ashlynn Park in 2020. Park developed the company after technical training in Seoul and Tokyo and design and pattern-making work at Yohji Yamamoto, Alexander Wang and Calvin Klein 205W39NYC. The first collection, Autumn/Winter 2021’s Hibernation, was completed largely by Park during pandemic factory closures and established a womenswear practice built around precise cutting, sculptural volume and limited production.
The label moved from a self-produced debut to New York runway presentations, beginning with Spring/Summer 2022’s Capturing the Now. Its early development brought museum and prize recognition: garments from the second collection entered the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s holdings, Ashlyn reached the 2022 LVMH Prize final, and Park received both the CFDA American Emerging Designer of the Year award and the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2025.
Ashlyn remains a small founder-led studio with no documented parent company or outside ownership. Womenswear is the central line, while menswear was introduced for Autumn/Winter 2024 as an extension of the same tailoring and pattern systems. By 2026 the brand continued to show in New York and to issue resort collections, while retaining pre-order, made-to-order and limited-production methods.
Philosophy
Ashlyn’s design process begins with pattern construction. Park develops shirts and dresses from single pieces of cloth, cuts square components that can be recombined without fringe waste, and uses production scraps as padding inside hips, bustles and other structures. The resulting shapes are not added after the garment is designed; volume, movement and economy are resolved inside the pattern itself.
The wardrobe moves between restrained tailoring and pronounced body architecture. Peplums, ballooned trousers, rounded skirts, panniered dresses and monastic gowns are balanced by sharp jackets, sheer blouses and compact knitwear. Seasonal ideas such as hibernation, persimmon, Korean celadon and the moon jar are translated into proportion, surface and movement rather than left as runway narrative.
The label’s environmental claims are tied to observable production choices: pre-order and made-to-order selling, limited quantities, New York manufacture, single-piece cutting and the reuse of scraps. Park also maintains a high conversion of runway designs into saleable garments, treating technical experimentation as part of a working wardrobe rather than as a separate conceptual exercise.

Button TextContemporary profiles report that the Metropolitan Museum of Art acquired three pieces from Ashlyn’s second collection in 2021, including a zero-waste shirt dress cut from a single piece of fabric. The acquisition gave the label unusually early institutional recognition for a construction method rather than a celebrity or commercial milestone.
Ashlyn entered the public record with the Autumn/Winter 2021 Hibernation collection, completed largely by Park during pandemic factory closures. The self-produced debut introduced deconstructed tailoring, controlled volume and the technical restraint that would continue through the label’s later runway work.
Ashlyn divisions and related structures
Ashlyn is organised as a compact studio rather than a hierarchy of diffusion labels. Its product expansion has remained inside the main brand.
