Overview
Brioni was established in Rome in 1945 by master tailor Nazareno Fonticoli and entrepreneur Gaetano Savini. The partnership melded Fonticoli’s sartorial expertise with Savini’s vision for international expansion, quickly elevating Brioni to the pinnacle of men’s luxury In 1952 the house staged the first ever men’s fashion show at Florence’s Sala Bianca, introducing lightweight suits and bold colours that would influence menswear worldwide.
To meet growing demand while preserving hand workmanship, Brioni opened a dedicated atelier in Penne, Abruzzo in 1959 Throughout the second half of the 20th century the brand outfitted Hollywood icons and heads of state and was known for its flawless bespoke service. Today Brioni offers made‑to‑measure and ready‑to‑wear collections, accessories and fragrances under the ownership of the Kering group and maintains production in Italy.
Philosophy
Brioni’s philosophy is grounded in Roman tailoring: impeccable construction, elegant silhouettes and subtle luxury. Each suit can involve more than 24 hours of hand‑work and is cut to enhance natural posture and comfort. The house believes in building a complete wardrobe for the modern gentleman, combining traditional techniques with contemporary styling and innovative fabrics.
Over its history Brioni has introduced unlined jackets, ultra‑light wool blends and deconstructed tuxedos, proving that refinement evolves with technology. While the brand epitomises discretion—its suits rarely feature logos—it cultivates exclusivity through personal service and small‑batch production.
Sustainability initiatives include sourcing sustainable wool and maintaining artisanal skills in Italian workshops. Brioni continues to dress sophisticated clients from business leaders to actors, upholding a philosophy that values quality, individuality and the timeless elegance of Roman couture.
